Wellness

The posts below will elaborate thoughts geared towards food, health and technology. this page for me comes from my changes made in my own life from a standpoint of major weight loss which started in 2005 when I weighed in at 248# and where I ended a year later at 174#. It was one of the hardest things I had done personally in many years.

While my weight management is now ongoing and part of my life focus now, I also keep in tune with the Nutrilite program. These are very high end excellent quality vitamins and supplements. I urge you to look up Nutrilite online to see for yourself. It has been an incredible help in my energy levels general well being and weight management program all the way around. The Double X Multivitamins are by far the best of all.  I am living proof of almost 2 years of using these products now. If you have any interest in them, please check the links here. I strongly urge taking the wellness Quiz. Running in a Walk in Cooler

Today was my first day back to a run since February 3rd. Arguably the longest clip of time I have gone in more than a year since my runs had started to be recorded a couple of years ago. Today was like running in a walk in cooler. Add 15-20 mph winds, and wind chill put it in the mid to high 20's at best. Brutal!!

It was a difficult 6+ mile run but was good to get out for a stretch. This has been an especially painful and emotional week for me, and I wish i could get out more, but the snows, freezing weather has really made it difficult. The sunshine did feel good on my face today though!!

February's brutal weather

So, barely more than a week into February and we have already seen about 38 inches of snow and another 12+ on the way. This has made running a difficulty to say the least. To date I have logged 5.5. miles this month. About 15 off of my pace for this many days into the month. Now arguably I have made up for it in shoveling. My back can attest to this.

So excersize comes in many ways I guess. In this particular month, I guess I'll be lucky to break 40 miles with this winter snow blizzard mess.

January 2010 wrap up

Well, I finished the month almost doubling last years miles, at 61+. While this is no record by far, it is a good month, in the respect that the weather has been on average in the low 30's and in the teens to single digits in the mornings and evenings. Most of the month, windy, rainy, and snow and honestly just hard to run in.  February looks to be equally as brutal. If I can match or at least get 60 miles in in February, I 'll be pleased.

Halfway thru January

This has been a tough weather month. While I am pretty well ahead of last January's pace, the run's are not coming easy. I think it has much to do with the time of year. I tend to feel slower and heavier. I clearly do not eat as well as I should over this period. I am sure I am not alone.

I need to get back into the gym, along with my running. That's what's missing.

January, icy cold and running

This year sees me at just over 20 miles of runs just 9 days into the year. While I am ahead of my pace from last January, it is not at all coming easy. The weather has been at consistently record lows here. Averaging in the low 30s during the days, to single digits and teens in the evenings.

I hope we get back to our normal low 40-50s during the days soon.
